The Nurses Letterbox
Pyramid Rock, Durham, CT
The Gal Pals have placed an
add-in to the Oma's Outlook
Letterbox on Mica
Hill Ledges in Durham,
Connecticut.
Directions- Follow the directions to Oma's Outlook
Letterbox and park in the same place.
The Hike- Easy but if adding on with Oma's Outlook,
remember the steep scramble to the top. Gal Pals can do it- You
can too ! If only doing Pyramid Rock, it will take you 20 mins. round
trip.
Once at Pyramid Rock, which is just
before the steep scramble up, go to the SW side of the
Rock, you will see the red blazed trail. Just
after the second red blaze ( which is still on
the sw side of Pyramid Rock) and with a hemlock immediately on
your right side (before the trail dips slightly
down)-turn to the right 270 degrees.
The Nurses Letterbox is on the opposite side as Pyramid
Rock and nestled in the rock at chest to eye level.
Stamp in carefully- on weekends it can get busy with hikers and mountain
bikers. You may choose to continue on to Oma's Outlook or
retrace your steps and go back to the car.
Happy Letterboxing to All !
ps- This letterbox is dedicated to all the wonderful nurses
who have cared for us "above and beyond" the call of duty. Oma
was One of the Best !! She was graduated from the
Hartford Hospital School of Nursing in 1941.
